Ah, the state fair... We finally made it there on a slightly chilly Friday after school. The kids and I have a little tradition where everyone can pick one food item each + 1 (new) thing to share. Pretty much everything at the fair is food I typically don't let the kids have - deep fried candy bars, krispy kreme burgers, deep fried kool aid, but hey - the fair only comes around once per year! The girls are funny, they almost always pick something not fried like a candy apple or cotton candy. Mickey is super predictable - he heads straight for the Krispy Kreme burger. I was shocked to learn that Mickey wasn't going to help me with the featured food of the year, the Krispy Kreme sloppy joe, so I had to wait for David to help me out with that!
The girls decided they really wanted sausage, so that is the first thing we looked for!
This is Mickey's face after realizing he took a bite out of the Krispy Kreme display burger! So disgusting :-) I couldn't even post photos of the Krispy Kreme burger this year because after looking at the photos, it was clearly old and not very pretty. Yuck, yuck, yuck!
Elina's red velvet funnel cake with icing that she so patiently shared with the girls.
Sausage #2 for Eva...turns out it wasn't as good as the first one. This one was polish sausage, but really taste very close to a hot dog. I have to give her credit for branching out and trying a different one though!
Blue caramel apple with sprinkles for Eva and Red candy apple with sprinkles for Stella!
Cute Eva waiting patiently for Stella to finish her apple.
Yikes! Candy apple aftermath!
I couldn't resist the salty popcorn while I waited for someone to split this years food specialty ;-)
I threw them on some rides so I could have my popcorn back.
Finally David arrived and it turned into Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe time...
So much fried goodness!
Game time...Must...Win...A...MINION!
Bull riding time! Eva looked like an old pro. After all, this wasn't her first bull ride. She even threw both hands up in the air at one point! Stella, on the other hand, wasn't too sure. She did a great job and the operator was nice enough to not throw her off the bull in the end!
Look at all that loot!
Filling Mickey and Elina's bellies for the last time with a little pizza.
One last funnel cake.
Just when we all thought we were stuffed...the glowing lights read "BBQ Eggroll" which was the one thing that Elina had been looking for the entire afternoon + evening sooooooo, of course we had to get a few!
As always, we had a blast! The girls had their fill of goodies + games and loved winning stuffed animals, especially the minion. :-) #spoiledrotten
